Ryan Maron’s School of Excellence

Since the start of the Maurits van Nierop Foundation we have worked closely together with Ryan Maron’s Cricket School of Excellence (RMCSE). RMCSE was founded in 1998. Since then it has grown to become one of South Africa’s leading cricket schools. Ryan’s aim is to teach aspiring cricketers the value of discipline, commitment and dedication that has stood him in such good stead on the cricket pitch. In 2002 RMCSE got involved with Khayelitsha and Samora Machell Cricket Club. This relationship involved supplying Khayelitsha Cricket Club with clothing, equipment and food. Along with this, 15 boys from the club as well as 4 of their coaches regularly attend the Ryan Maron’s holiday clinics. Through this way The Maurits van Nierop Foundation develops cricket in underprivileged communities in cooperation with RMSCE.

The Maurits van Nierop Loyalty and Dedication Shield

At the end of the December holiday cricket clinics at the RMCSE 3 new kids in Cape Town receive the MVNF Dedication Award. This special award is given to the child that represents two of Maurits most typical characteristics, being loyalty and dedication. During the clinics there is a big focus on winning this award. This because the trainers of the clinic claim that these characteristics are key for every great cricket player.
